2. Other Back-Up Services and Catering
1. Technical Descriptions(Equipment)
The Palacio de Congresos of Canarias has got a voice distribution infrastructure, data and video which connects all the halls of the building, using for this, category five fibre optic multi use ACPO cables, allowing the transfer of information of 10 Mbits at 100 or 155 Mbitss. This solution is essential today to be able to broadcast video conferences and information from internet.
The network is completed with the distribution of additional telephone cables to cover the press conference room. This room includes audio distribution system, capable of receiving a signal from any of the chambers (Symphonic or Chamber) and its control cabins, to be able to connect near by audio systems, recording systems, etc.
Besides the Palacio de Congresos de Canarias has got a simultaneous translation system using infrared beams in the Symphonic Hall and another in the Chamber Hall, capable of working with four languages and with capacity to extend up to twelve. In this rooms mobile cameras are installed with self positioning and zoom optics, so that these, together with monitors situated in each of the cabins allow the person performing to change or adapt any element which will help to make a good translation. For the rest of the halls equipment for two languages or more is present. The technical equipment of the building includes a system of monitors which allow any message or image to be viewed from the central control centre.
The information system is completed by an electronic notice board with two lines of 42 characters each situated in the Symphonic Hall, and able to show characters and graphics.
As an element of the projection system, both, the Symphonic and Chamber Halls have projection screens, the first measurement is 13 X 10 meters and the second is 6 X 5 meters. The first screen is designed for screening cinema films.
Apart from the advanced communication system and simultaneous
translation the Palacio de Congresos de Canarias has got modern audio
visual equipment (videos, slide projectors, CD Players and Video Players,
etc.)
2. Other Back-Up Services and Catering
Canary Islands Convention Centre offers the conference
participants and visitors a variety of back-up services which make the
organisation of national and international events much smoother, such
as stewardesses, stand equipment, specialized technicians, store porters,
security guards, flowery decoration, etc.
Besides, given the location
of the building, close to a major shopping centre, the conference participants
and visitors have ample possibilities to choose from in terms of catering
from fast food through to gourmet restaurants. Canary Islands Convention
Centre also possesses its own catering service and cafeterias for cocktails
and dinners.
3. Leisure and Recreation
The wide-open spaces afford the visitor various areas in
which to relax. All the inside and outside spaces allow for sea views.
There is also ample room for exhibition with space for over 50 stands.
The shopping centre opposite the Auditorium and the Canary Convention
Centre allows the visitors to make good use of their free time with plenty
of banks, shops, cinemas and pubs.
