Fito Páez wraps up the VIII Arrecife de las Músicas


The Argentinean singer- songwriter, Fito Páez, will arrive next July 8th to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium to present his latest album ‘Confíá’, recorded between July and December 2009 under his supervision to guarantee his trade mark as the composer of every lyric. The concert will begin at 21:00 hours in the Symphonic Hall in the Auditorium; it will be his first concert in the island.

This concert fills in for the Sinéad O’Connor’s, initially scheduled for June 4th, which was cancelled due to the Irish singer’s health problems. Because of the impossibility to set another date for the concert, the Auditorium’s Foundation of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria decided to include Fito Páez’s in the programme of the VIII edition of Arrecife de las Músicas (Reef of Music). People who bought tickets for the Sinéad O’Connor’s concert won’t be able to use them for the concert of Fito Páez, They ought to change them or get a refund. The opening hours of the ticket office is from 15:00 to 21:00 hours (Monday- Friday).

Fito started recording in Córdoba (Argentina), and continued in Trancoso (Brazil), San Salvador de Bahía, then in Río de Janeiro, in the studios of Nas Nuvens de Liminha (Los Mutantes) to finish in the studio Circo Beat in Buenos Aires; with Mariano López as recording engineering.

In 2009, Páez visited our country to present ‘No sé si es Baires o Madrid’, an album recorded unplugged in Madrid which he was nominated for a Latin Grammy. In that time, with his piano as a partner he invited to the stage artists as: Joaquín Sabina, Pereza, Ariel Rot or Marlango. Now he comes back with his band to offer an amazing live performance with the new themes of Confiá and some of the greatest hits of his career.

He was born in 1963 in Rosario (Argentina). In the late 80’s, Fito Páez joined the Juan Carlos Baglietto’s Band, and shortly after the Charly García’s. These two great masters pushed Fito to record his first album in 1984 (‘Del 63’), inspired in rock, jazz, tango and folklore. A year after he released his second album, since then Fito Páez’s career has been in the spot light.

He has collaborated with Caetano Veloso, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Joaquín Sabina and Phil Ramone, among other artists. He has released albums as Ciudad de los pobres corazones (1987), El amor después del amor (1992), Circo Beat (1994), Abre (1999), Rey Sol (2001), Naturaleza sangre (2003), El mundo cabe en una canción (2006) and Rodolfo (2007), recorded only with vocals and piano.

Through his career, Fito Páez has sold over three millions copies, he has signed as writer and director of two movies and a short, he has also participated as an actor in six movies and has composed many soundtracks, among them Martín Hache, by Adolfo Aristaráin.

Tickets for the concert of Fito Páez are available from June 23rd through the usual channels: Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, from 15:00 to 21:00 h (Monday-Friday); and a few minutes before the concert day.
