According to Víctor Manuel: “this work analyses in detail the life and biography of handwritten songs that aren’t ment to be nostalgic, they simply witness a past time lived for many of us, and I’ve transformed it into lyrics”. At the age of 16, Víctor Manuel started his career as an artist, he entered many musical contests and participated as the vocalist of the orchestra ‘Bossa Nova’. In 1964, he moved to Madrid to study piano and singing. Since then, until the middle of 1965 he sang in the show ‘La nueva ola musical’ (the new musical wave), in the radio station “La Voz de Madrid” (Madrid’s voice), and in 1965 he recorded some singles for the record company Belter. In the late 1969, his debut album ‘Víctor Manuel’ comes out, in it there are outstanding songs like ‘La Romería’ (The fiesta) or ‘El abuelo Vitor’(Grandpa Vitor). These songs were well received by the broadcasting stations. This way he became noticeable, as well as the displeasure of certain society sectors for the thematic and content of his songs. Starts the 70’s with his second album ‘Quiero abrazarte tanto’ (I want to hold you so much), with Philips Records. After this record, he began a tour throughout Latin America. A year after he produced another record called ‘Dame la mano’ (Hold my hand), where he flirted with censorship. On June 13 1972, Víctor Manuel and singer Ana Belén, got married in Gibraltar. At that time he premiered his work ‘Ravos’, as a consequence of this he began to have problems with the Spanish Government and he went into exile. In 1996, his LP ‘Sin memoria’ (without memory) came to life. In this year he also got together with Ana Belen, Miguel Ríos and Serrat in a tour called ‘El gusto es nuestro’ (our pleasure), through Spain and Latin America. Afterwards they release an album named after the tour. In the late 90’s came out the album ‘Cada uno es como es’ (everyone is different). He also recorded along with the Symphony Orchestra of Asturias and the Prince of Asturias Foundation’s Choir an album called ‘Live to sing it’. In the year 2001 he recorded ‘El hijo del ferroviario’ (rail way worker’s son) and the live record ‘Dos en la carretera’ (two on a highway) with Ana Belén. In 2002 he produced a tribute- album to Joaquin Sabina ‘Entre todas las mujeres’ (between all women) and in 2004 came out his best album, ‘El perro del garaje’ (The garage dog).
