TENOR ANTONIO GANDIA, IN THE VI EDITION OF CONCERT TRIBUTE TO ALFREDO KRAUS | |
Valencian singer Antonio Gandia, who was Alfredo Kraus’s former student at Superior Music School Reina Sofia, will perform in the sixth edition of this concert The concert will be celebrated next November 24th birthday of Gran Canarian tenor. It will be at 20:30 hours at Chamber Hall at Auditorio Alfredo Kraus Valencian tenor Antonio Gandia, known as one of the best young Spanish singers, will perform in the VI edition of the concert to tribute Alfredo Kraus, to be celebrated next November 24th at 20:30 h. This concert is organized by Fundacion Auditorio de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Auditorium Foundation of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Council and Cabildo of Gran Canaria. This concert is a tribute to tenor Alfredo Kraus, who was the most illustrious voice of the island. In 1998, Gandia joined the Superior Music School Reina Sofia, in the singing class “Fundacion Ramon Areces” (Ramon Areces Foundation) conducted by Alfredo Kraus, where he also attended master classes by Renata Scotto, Ileana Cotrubas and Elena Obraztsova. In 1999, within the activities of the school, he performed at Lazaro Galdiano Museum and at National Music Auditorium of Madrid. The same year he received the first-place award in the last edition of the International Singing Contest Alfredo Kraus and he participated, under the conduction of Enrique Garcia Asensio, in the Gala organized by RTVE, where he obtained great critics. He has also been awarded in many contests: in Operalia (Washington –USA) in the Zarzuela category; the I Latin American Contest (Mexico); Singing Contest Pedro Lavirgen in Cordoba (2nd place) and in Luis Mariano Contest in Irun (1st place). In January 2004 he earned the Great First Prize and two Placido Domingo awards in the International Singing Contest Francisco Viñas in Barcelona. Since his debut in the year 2000 in the role of the Italian tenor “Der Rosenkavalier” at The Royal Theater of Madrid and under the conduction of Garcia Navarro. He has performed in Tenerife (Riccardo in ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’), Santander’s Festival, Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao and Festival of Peralada (Gerardo in ‘Gianni Schicchi’), at Romea Theater in Murcia and at Principal Theater of Alicante (‘L’Elisir d’amore’). He has taken part in “Anthology of Zarzuela” at Jovellanos Theatre in Gijon, and in “The Storm” by Chapí. He performed many concerts at Auditorio Alfredo Kraus of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as a tribute to his maestro, a gala organized by Auditorium Foundation of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the cooperation of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Adrian Leaper. In February 2004 Antonio Gandia debuted with great success at La Scala of Milan with "Beatrice di Tenda’ and afterwards he sang ‘Doña Francisquita’ at Zarzuela Theater in Madrid, ‘La Traviata’ in Cosenza, Bolonia and Ancona, ‘Luisa Fernanda’ in Washington and Los Angeles, ‘La Sonnambula’ in Bolonia, ‘L’Elisir d’Amore’ in Napoles and at The Royal Theater of Madrid, ‘La Fille du Régiment’ in Cascais, ‘Don Pasquale’ in Treviso and Palermo, ‘Don Giovanni’ in Santander, ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’’ in La Scala of Milan (standing in for Ramon Vargas) and Japan, ‘Falstaff’ in Brussels and Bari, ‘Gianni Schicchi’ in Washington and Bari, and ‘Il Pagliacci’ at The Royal Theater of Madrid. Recent and future performances include: ‘Luisa Fernanda’ in Valladolid, ‘La Favorite’ in Bergamo, ‘La Traviata’ in Rovigo, Bassano, Padova and Lieja, ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ in Florencia, ‘Rigoletto’ in Bolonia and ‘La Fille du Régiment’ in Pamplona and Barcelona.
